One of the things I’m still not used to about Wake Forest, being from Southern California, is that there are actually seasons here. In San Diego, my “fall” clothes consisted of cutoff denim shorts and a mid-sleeve blouse with some suede booties to make it seem like the weather was changing (even though it stayed a constant 76 degrees and sunny). But now that I’m on the East Coast, I actually need fall clothes. Unfortunately the leaves haven’t quite turned to the lush oranges and reds of the season and there is a brisk wind in the air but nothing unbearably cold, so what do I wear? This season I looked to some of my all-time favorite summer to fall transition pieces for some inspiration.
Welcome back to 5th grade- Although not as dorky looking as the ones I wore as a child “adult” skorts combine your favorite look of a skirt with the comfort of a pair of your favorite lived-in summer shorts. No need to worry about having to always cross your legs while sitting- literally thank god- making it more relaxed than a hip-hugging skirt.
Lace Up Tops
Lace up tops have been major key this season- they can be dressed up or down depending on if you are going bar hopping and hope to impress your potential one-true love along the way or just want to wear something cute around campus. It’s also been a trending favorite of celebs like Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajakowski, and Hailey Baldwin so might as well give it a go.
Trend alert! One of my major favorites have been western belts. They finally create the cool-girl vibe that you can actually pull off. I like to wear mine with medium wash Topshop Jamie Jeans, and a distressed tee.
