Stylin’ City Spotlight: Kansas City, MO

A few weeks ago I took a little bit of time off school to go to Kansas City, Missouri for the UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show. Obviously I’m not going to go into details about the horse show on WFU Style, but I will say one thing, I love horse shows because they’re more than just a competition, they’re basically a fashion show. People are dressed to the nine’s for every session – decked in their best equestrian-based attire. At this show in particular, it’s everyone’s opportunity to show off their best fall pieces because Kansas City in November is known for it’s chilly fall temperatures. Perhaps Kansas City didn’t know that this year… it was basically in the 60s all week!

I take every opportunity at horse shows to look around and garner inspiration from the melting pot of style around me. The American Royal gives me the perfect opportunity to look around and see new things that intrigue me, and then SHOP! Little did you know, Kansas City is the home of many amazing shopping locations. From Country Club Plaza to Halls—there are so many places for fashion and shopping lovers to fill their cravings! So, here’s my list of the top five places that all fashion lovers should go if you ever take a trip to Kansas City, MO:

Once you pick a few frames you like, they will personally put your prescription lenses in and ship them to your house for free! Standard Style Boutique

A boutique unique to Kansas City, Standard Style Boutique is my #1 favorite place to go when I visit Kansas City! There are so many amazing brands – including Helmut Lang, Rag&Bone, BB Dakota, Tibi and more! A bit on the pricier side, Standard Style gives you the opportunity to look for your high-end fashion needs! But, I will say, they occasionally have a great sale!
