Rodarte Groove

Calling all cool girls: your designated dream collection bombarded the runway at yesterday’s Rodarte Fall 2015 ready to wear show, and the word for the show’s sum up is groovy. The ladies behind the brilliancy, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, stated that the starting point of inspiration behind this collection was disco. It seems that funk is resurfacing as an overall trend right now (Uptown Funk, Marvin Gaye remixes, return of the technicolor sequins), and if there is any bandwagon I’m eager to be a part of, any day of the week, it’s the disco bandwagon. Metallic lamé has been a focus of mine lately, and this runway show fed my craving for psychedelic fabrics. Who doesn’t want to feel like a 1970’s dance queen on the way to boogie down at Studio 54? This has been a recurring wishful dream of mine lately, and I’m sure if you sat front row alongside Chiara Ferragni and Eva Chen at Rodarte on Tuesday, you would feel the same.

Hypothetical Situation #1: Here I am, storming Bleecker Street around 11:00pm on a Friday night after a long work week, with “Got to Give it Up (Part 1)” Marvin Gay spinning in the background and an agenda for dancing until around 3:00am on the docket. Excuse my daydreaming, but that’s what Look 1 puts in my mind.

Onto Look 2: It’s a Thursday morning, I’m walking into work with an unnecessary amount of umph/spice/attitude but I can thank the coffee for that, and this orange fur collar makes me feel as though I can get just about anything accomplished. That’s what this killer leather combo does for me here.

Details from Rodarte A/W ’15

I wont make you all read through all of the wishful situations tied to each of Rodarte’s looks of perfection, but I do suggest you check out the collection and allow the Mulleavy sisters to push your imagination too. Heavy embroidery, thrift-shop vibes, and a Bee Gees soundtrack graced the onlookers and brought about a funky nostalgia. In short, the Mulleavy girls are on point with this collection. Rich, deep jewel tones and peacock hues were delicately detailed with furs, feathers, chiffon and whatever else might make you feel like a dancing queen groove monster, and I mean that in the best way.
