The three of us – Katie Dickens, Sophie Cohn, and Gracie Wiener – are so happy to announce that we are sharing the roles of WFU Style co-presidents for the next year!

We have come a long way from three fashion-obsessed freshmen (shout out to Collins!) sitting at our first WFU Style meeting in 2014 to running the club and blog together. It has been so rewarding to see how much the blog, club, and team have all developed since we first started and how much people on and off campus love WFU Style.

Even though you’ve probably gotten to know each of us a little of the years, we’d like to take a moment to introduce ourselves.

Hi, I’m Gracie Wiener! I am from Durham, North Carolina and am an art history major and studio art and entrepreneurship and social enterprise double minor. As co-president, I am heading all of WFU Style’s Social Media, Marketing, and Public Relations — all things I have been actively involved in since joining in 2014. Anyone who knows me (personally or not), knows that I am very addicted to my phone and can 99.9% of the time be seen with my phone in hand, finger through my phone strap, looking at something on Instagram or Vogue. If you see me, feel free to tell me I have an problem and also ask to be feature on our Insta!

I don’t specifically remember when I first fell in love with fashion and style, since as long as I can remember (FYI my family nickname is The Elephant due to my amazing and extensive memory) I have been in love with fashion. All of my favorite toys growing up were highly creative and all fashion and clothing focused. My favorite was a toy of my mom’s called Betsy McCall Fashion Designer, where you trace clothes on to Betsy paperdolls using a lightbox then color them in. I never used the paperdolls, but instead had pages and pages of meticulously designed, patterned, and colored outfits. I am confused as to why my parents are so surprised when I say I want to pursue fashion and art. Did they not pick up on a thing from my childhood?

I maintain this passion by creating crazy collages and lookbooks with all the magazines I read. I also spend a lot of time online “window shopping” on Net-A-Porter and Moda Operandi and reading tons and tons of blogs to always know the happenings of the fashion world. As described in my collection from my Italian Fashion Design course abroad, my style can be defined as Intergalactic Princess Cowgirl (haha I love my sparkles, metallics, and denim)! It’s hard to name specifically one style crush, but in my dream world I would have the closets of Jenna Lyons and Leandra Medine. After graduating from Wake, I hope to work in the art or fashion industry. If anyone (@AnnaWintour @AlessandroMichele @MulleavySisters @KarlLagerfeld) is looking for a fun-looking young creative, please feel free to contact me!

katie

Hello all! I’m Katie Dickens. I’m a Raleigh, North Carolina native and fifth generation Demon Deacon. I’m a business and enterprise management major with a concentration in marketing, and a double minor in journalism and Spanish.

I’m obsessed with all things sunshine and beach-related (a self-proclaimed thalassophile)- My long-term life plan is to wake up somewhere sunny every day.

This year, I’ll be organizing blog content and posting. I knew I wanted to be a part of WFU Style long before I was ever a student at Wake, thanks to my lifelong passion for the world of style and fashion. I contemplated attending design school, but couldn’t help that I bleed black and gold.

My personal style has evolved over the years, from making (and selling, smh) my own fashion magazine called S.O.S. (Sense of Style) at age 8 to designing, sewing, and photographing my own colorful fashion line for pre-teen girls (accompanied by a line of bowties for boys) as a senior in highschool to now reading Women’s Wear Daily every morning. I can usually be found hanging out in Campus Grounds, Wake’s very own student-run coffee shop, with a La Croix or Village Juice in my hand. Other hobbies include sharing people’s stories, cheering on the Demon Deacons, adventuring in downtown Winston-Salem, LTB-ing in PureBarre, and taking infinite photos.

My guilty fashion pleasures are bikinis (preferably Mikoh), sunglasses (preferably Quay), and all things Rachel Pally, Wildfox, or Australian-designed (Zimmermann, C/Meo Collective). Heaven would be a world in which I could afford all Valentino, Celine, and Rosie Assoulin.

Sophie

Hi, I’m Sophie Cohn! I’m from the Lone Star State, Texas! I am a business enterprise management major with a minor in politics and international affairs.

As co-president, I am heading the WFUStyle Events Team. Along with running meetings with Katie and Gracie, I am working with the events team to put together photoshoots, team dinners, clothing swaps, clothing donations, love our locals events, and more! WFUStyle has been one of my favorite clubs since freshman year- and I am so lucky to be able to give back to the club through this leadership role this year.

Ever since I was young I have always loved fashion and design, but excelled in business and math classes in school. As a result, a career on the business side of the fashion industry was always my dream. I have been lucky enough to gain hands-on experience in the industry interning with Stanley Korshak in the summer of 2016 and Tuckernuck during my semester in Washington D.C. this past fall.  Both experiences reaffirmed my desire to work in this creative, yet business-minded industry, and I am excited to learn even more next summer in the Neiman Marcus Corporate Internship Program.

Some of my favorite things are traveling, spin classes, photography, organizing my room, and sunny days! My favorite fashion pieces are anything cashmere, neutral (with some pops of color of course), and athleisure!
