After living in Winston-Salem for three-ish years and eating a primarily plant-based diet, I started taking note of all of my favorite vegan (or mostly vegan) dishes at local restaurants.
Whether you simply enjoy dabbling in the plant-based food category or have already devoted your daily food intake to plants only, these dishes from 4 local restaurants are delicious, refreshing and most importantly, animal product-free!
Mozzarella Fellas is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite spots! Nearly every dish can be made vegan with their special, vegan mozzarella.
There are also plenty of gluten-free options. It’s soooo difficult to choose only a few of my favorite dishes from here…
(They also only use reusable straws — go, corporate social responsibility!)
Oyster Mushroom “Calamari”
Fried oyster mushrooms, lemon & marinara sauce
Buffalo Cauliflower Wings
Crispy cauliflower florets spun in buffalo sauce
Bruschetta (an Italian dining must-have!)

Vegan cheese is available for all pizzas & there are sooo many veggie toppings to choose from.
My personal favorite: BBQ Jackfruit! (with no jalapeños)

Sweet potato & black bean burger, topped with hummus, lettuce & tomato (I like to add mushrooms too!)
The sweet potato fries are a delicious side here as well!
Squash & Zucchini Spaghetti
Cauliflower, broccoli, roasted red peppers, pine nuts, parmesan*, plum tomato sauce (*Request no parmesan to make it vegan)
Baja Style Tacos
Cilantro, guac spread, baja sauce, red cabbage and pico de gallo. Served on corn tortillas with lime wedges…. pick your plant-based protein:
