Suma Appalaneni, President

Fashion Pick:  I am in love with slip dresses and fun pants for spring! I always struggle with adding pops of color into my daily style so i love fun slip dresses and the 90s vibe for dinners out! Fun pants are great to add to any day-to-day uniform too!

Beauty Pick: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask.

I discovered this over the summer and love it for dry skin so so much especially when the weather is changing. It is such a staple! I use it as a daily primer and eye cream and it leaves my skin looking visibly brighter and refreshed by the time I wake up!

Book Pick: No One Ever Asked by Katie Ganshert.

Fashion Pick: Telfar Bag and With Jean Dress

My ideal outfit for a spring brunch paired with a cute pair of cowboy boots. Dresses and bags are always a struggle for me to find that fit my ideal style and can have versatility in my wardrobe. This outfit could be worn multiple times throughout the spring and summer months while these brands continue to rise in popularity.

Beauty Pick: Tula cooling and brightening eye balm

Inspired by YouTuber Lauren Elizabeth. I am so impressed with how this eye balm works under makeup or on its own. It is immediately cooling to the touch and I find myself using it multiple times a day to give a glow and boost to my under eyes.

Movie Pick: Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry

The emotion and realness behind Billie’s new doc is quite remarkable and I think she was able to relate to her fans on a deeper level by revealing her true self. Incredible and I highly recommend it.

Fashion pick: Aritzia Sweats (colors sage green and navy).

These sweats are super cozy, soft, and stylish. During online university I find myself seeking comfortable yet cute clothes more often. These pants are surprisingly flattering and look good with any tank or t-shirt combo.

Beauty pick: La Roche-Posay- Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer

This moisturizer is so worth the $20! It is super lightweight yet deeply moisturizes. It also contains pore-minimizing properties so it works as more than just a moisturizer.

Book pick: The Chain by Adrian McKinty (thriller)

If you enjoy a fast paced, high intensity page-turner then this is the book for you. All about a kidnapping chain that parents must continue. I couldn't put it down!

Fashion pick: Knit Boleros/cardigan sets

Comfy yet chic cardigan sets are a step up from the sweats we’re so used to wearing from our time in quarantine. This new trend amplifies any look whether it’s paired with wide leg jeans or leather trousers. The “bolero” cardigan is a great addition to any basic tank or bodysuit, adding warmth and softness to your look.

Beauty pick: NudeStix’s Mini Glow Kit

I’d definitely say I’m a beginner when it comes to makeup and I find these to be super simple and easy to use. This kit comes with a highlighter, blush, and bronzer stick that give such a nice glow, giving the “no makeup” makeup look that everyone seems to be after these days. I definitely recommend this specific kit for easy and on-the-go makeup and/or everyday makeup. If you’re interested in the crayon type applicator this brand has so many different options, plus it’s female owned, which is a plus!

Book pick: Self Care by Leigh Stein

I finished this book in isolation and I loved it! If you love both self care and social media then this book is for you!

Fashion Pick: Mate The Label Sets

These super comfortable and chic lounge sets are also made ethically and sustainably. They source the best fabrics like 100% organic cotton, which makes it unbelievably soft and less taxing on the environment. My favorite is the Thermanl Boxy Crop and the matching Thermal Wide Leg Pant. The sets are perfect for lounging around the house or for grabbing coffee with friends. A must buy.

Beauty Pick: Tata Harper Clarifying Mask

In my opinion, Tata Harper reigns supreme in the world of skincare. Though I use her products sparingly due to the price, a little truly goes a long way. Her products are clean, non-toxic, organic, and most importantly, effective. Lately, my Saturday self-care routine has been exfoliating and following up with the Clarifying Mask. It will make you look like Elfaba from Wicked, but it does wonders for your skin. I instantly feel hydrated and refreshed when I use this mask, and it helps clear my pores. If you can only buy one thing from Tata Harper, buy this mask!

Book Pick: Earthy Andy’s Cookbook - Plant Over Processed

If you aren’t following Earthy Andy on instagram, you are missing out. She is my plant-based inspiration and smoothie bowl queen. Any meat eater will want to devour her food- that’s how good everything looks. This summer, she released her first cookbook, and I have been loving trying all the recipes. My top picks are the Nach-Yo-Regular Cheese (perfect for taco night) and the Vegan Cookie Dough Ice Cream.

Fashion Pick: Hosbjerg Pants

This spring I am leaning into the 1970s— psychedelic prints and most importantly, color! After a year of drab quarantine outfits, I am completely ditching minimalism in favor of dressing like a Studio 54 regular. Although I have yet to purchase these funky Danish pants, they are at the top of my spring wishlist.

Beauty Pick: Krave beauty sunscreen

As we move into warmer weather, protecting your skin from those harmful UVs is all the more vital. I’ve been loving this Skincare by Hyram approved sunscreen. As someone with oily skin I am usually hesitant of sunscreens but this one leaves a non-greasy, glowing finish.

Book: The Idiot by Elif Batuman

With my busy college schedule, I rarely have time to dig into a good book. Still, I find myself looking forward to this one at the end of the long day.
