A Deep Dive into my Pinterest Boards: Summer Inspo

By. Lanie Kotler

Summer is officially here! And with new seasons come new styles and outfits. If you’re like me, you spend hours scrolling through Pinterest, looking for inspiration on how to shop and dress for summer 2022. Although my Pinterest addiction may be a little out of hand it always helps me find exactly what Im looking for. Today Im going to be sharing the top 5 pins I have saved to my ”Fitspo” board, and how you can integrate these trends into your own outfits. Side note: shameless self promo! Follow my Pinterest @Laniehope2 for more inspiration.

  1. Crochet

This fabulous dress is one of many of my saved pins featuring crocheted pieces. This trend has been growing ever since early spring, and I am more than excited to hop on board. Crochet pieces emulate a beach, carefree look that is perfect for summer. I recently thrifted a crochet wrap top that I plan to wear as a beach coverup! To look for your own crochet pieces, I would suggest thrifting or Depop, and for those who are willing to invest in a piece, check out Cro-Che.com for some incredible sustainable hand crocheted garments!

2. Tube Tops

Although I have never been a fan of tube tops, I’ve come to accept that they aren’t going anywhere. These skimpy tops continue to come back in fashion, and they have once again for summer 2022. Across Pinterest, Tik Tok, and Instagram, I’ve seen influencers and cool girls alike sporting these tops with cargo pants, maxi skirts, and baggy jeans. The pin I chose shows a tube top with a twist! The blue textured top with a diagonal cut is a twist on the classic tube top that I can get behind. To buy the classic “cool girl” tube top, I suggest checking out Djerfavenue.com. Matilda Djerf sells high quality tube tops and dresses that are perfect for any summer occasion.

3. Deliberately Mismatched

Summertime means playful fashion, which is shown through bright colors and funky patterns. Who said your outfit has to match? It’s time to throw fashion do‘s and dont’s out the window and embrace whatever works for you. The fashion influencer @Tinyjewishgirl is the queen of mismatching the pieces her incredible closet. But, she‘s not the only one! I fell in love with this pin, specifically the striped shorts. I even found a similar dupe, a pair of super short orange and white knit shorts from H&M that I am just obsessed with. Instead of wearing them with a matching white top, I opt for a hot pink tank top that works perfectly. The best part about this trend is you can shop anywhere and achieve this look!

4. Graphic Baby Tees

Baby Tees are quite possibly one of my favorite clothing items in existence. I have been growing my personal collection for quite some time now. Although they are truly timeless and season-less pieces, fun colorful graphic work so easily in the summer. This pin caught my eye from the adorable top, and the incredible way it was styled. I love the creative combination of a belt and a waist chain. To buy your own cute baby tee, I always suggest thrifting and Depop for something unique. I usually look for children’s large tops so they are quite literally a baby tee! You can also check out the brand ogbff.com , known for its adorably sarcastic graphic baby tees.

5. Funky Tights

This pin emulates a style I like to call “Elevated Prep”, which is basically preppy outfits styled with an edge or statement piece. In this case, the statement is the white and polka dot tights styled with a cripped button down and black mini skirt. This winter, I saw black tights and mini skirts all throughout Pinterest, which were usually seen as “old” and not commonly worn by our generation. But as their popularity grew they were adapted and styled to work with the ever changing trends. This spring we were introduced to a step up: colorful and patterned tights. I suggest checking out tytm8.com a London based brand that sells incredible printed and dyed tights for no more than 55 Euros!
